Are the Smart Meters that are being installed safe for our health?
The Smart Meter is the latest assault on you and everyone in this country!
Smart Meters will be installed in everyone’s home in the next few years. It sounds like a great idea. The reality is that these meters transmit in two bandwidths – 900 and 915 megahertz. They are transmitted from the meters omni directionally, meaning that our homes are bombarded with Electro Magnetic Frequencies (EMF’s) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Just get your meter reader or smog detector out and see for yourself. The RF is constant! The Smart Meter is a real health concern.

The health consequences are real! I have asked that they not install one on my house. They are on hold.

Transmitting Smart Meters Pose a Serious Threat to Public Health.

Smart Meter Program Signals Health Concerns to Consumers: Exposure to Electromagnetic Radiation (EMR) 24/7 Throughout Our Homes

Smart Meters for gas and electric usage are being installed in all of our homes as part of the California Public Utilities Commission mandate to upgrade California’s energy infrastructure with automated digital technology. The Smart Meter provides two way digital communication transmitting between the meter on your home and the utility company by way of a radio frequency (RF) network. The Smart Meter has two wireless transmitters, one sent directly into your home and one sent to the neighborhood data collector. The principle behind the Smart Meter is that it will allow consumers to know how much they are paying for energy usage at any time.  “Time of use” pricing will give the consumer the option to shift their energy usage to a time when the demand for power is lower and therefore the price is less.

Sounds like a great idea!  Save money by knowing when the best time during the day it is to cook dinner or use your heat or air conditioning. The real concern should be not the money we save, but what this constant RF radiation is doing to our health.  ` current standards for RF radiation set by the FCC are not safety standards, but rather regulatory standards.  They were not put in place by physicians or medical scientists who had carefully studies the effects of RF radiation of our bodies, but rather by engineers who were looking at the amount of radiation necessary to allow for successful transmission for technological applications such as cell phones – and now Smart Meters. These regulatory standards sound good, but are meaningless when one considers that RF radiation penetrates every living cell – plant, animal, and human.  The first organ RF radiation affects is the brain, and the brain is the center of our physical and emotional being. The present FCC standards are for short term, thermal based applications such as microwave ovens.  As such, they only protect us from being cooked, burned, or electrocuted!  It is not the thermal effect we are concerned about. It is the biological or “non-thermal” effect.

Smart Meters will be sending a strong signal into our homes at frequencies in two bandwidths of 900-915 megahertz. These wireless signals penetrate walls and pervade our entire home environment, traveling along electrical wiring, metal plumbing, metal fencing, box springs, and so on.  Besides communicating with your appliances, they will be communicating with the outside network of meters and a cell site or wireless antenna in your neighborhood.

Chronic exposure to radiofrequency and microwave radiation is still considered a potential health risk. The Smart Meter RF/MW levels are much higher than those already reported to cause cell damage. Research has shown that exposure to this low ambient radiation can cause damage to DNA.  What we know about cancer is that DNA damage is always present.  Through the roll out of the Smart Grid program, we will be constantly bombarded with EMR – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Insomnia, high blood pressure, rapid heart beat, chronic fatigue, confusion . . . Why do we feel so bad?  If we could see the EMF we wouldn’t tolerate it!  It is invisible. We are living in a wireless smog, which just got thicker with the EMF from the Smart Meter installations.

Security Concerns with the Smart Meter

Without my permission the gas and electric companies are transmitting these dangerous EMF’s  into my house with the Smart Meter. Plus without my permission they are monitoring the entire appliance and electrical usage inside my house. They are electronically trespassing! They are transmitting this data over the network of meters in our neighborhood for an upload to a central link. So in effect, anyone can tap into this link and know all of my information. Most importantly, the possible hackers would know whether I was home or not! That is disturbing to me!

Obama Promises “Smart Meters” In Our Homes, But What Are Smart Meters?

In Obama’s speech yesterday after signing the “stimulus” into law he mentioned saving energy by installing something called “smart meters” in the homes of Americans.
Today, the electricity we use is carried along a grid of lines and wires that dates back to Thomas Edison, a grid that can’t support the demands of clean energy. This means we’re using 19th- and 20th-century technologies to battle 21st-century problems like climate change and energy security.
It also means that places like North Dakota can produce a lot of wind energy but can’t deliver it to communities that want it, leading to a gap between how much clean energy we are using and how much we could be using.
The investment we are making today will create a newer, smarter electric grid that will allow for the broader use of alternative energy. We will build on the work that’s being done in places like Boulder, Colorado, a community that is on pace to be the world’s first Smart Grid city. This investment will place Smart Meters in homes to make our energy bills lower, make outages less likely and make it easier to use clean energy.
It’s an investment that will save taxpayers over $1 billion by slashing energy costs in our federal buildings by 25 percent and save working families hundreds of dollars a year on their energy bills by weatherizing over 1 million homes. And it’s an investment that takes the important first step towards a nationwide transmission superhighway that will connect our cities to the windy plains of the Dakotas and the sunny deserts of the Southwest.
Now, I’m not necessarily against upgrading our electrical grid, but I do have to marvel at the spectacle of Obama promising a new electrical grid to bring from North Dakota to the rest of the nation wind energy that, frankly, wouldn’t exist if it weren’t heavily subsidized by the government. Essentially, what Obama is wanting to do is bring to market an energy product that wouldn’t exist without government subsidy and that wouldn’t even be used if it weren’t for additional government subsidy and mandate of its use.
I won’t even mention the taxpayers being billed to weatherize the homes of people who couldn’t be bothered to get up off the couch long enough to hang up some plastic sheeting and rubber strips on their own.
What really caught my attention was this “Smart Meters” thing. During the campaign Obama said that we can’t just have our thermostats set wherever we want (even though he sure likes cranking the thermostat in his own office, the big hypocrite). Is this “Smart Meters” thing a way for the government to monitor our energy consumption?
It appears as though it is, and I wonder if the Smart Meters the “stimulus bill’ is going to put into place are going to report our energy consumption to the government? If so, what an awful thing!
If the government starts monitoring our energy consumption, it will only be so long until the government is dictating to us how much energy we can use.
And what does that have to do with freedom and liberty?
It should would have been nice if we could have read and debated this bill before Democrats pushed it through Congress• Published on SayAnythingBlog.com
